Going up the Stromboli

Paula climbing the Stromboli

When we went up to Stromboli, Paula got her energy from the rainbow formed by the rain we had around the island. The only bad thing is that there is no place for refuge from the water all the way!

Vías Ferratas in Dolomites

Vías Ferratas in Dolomites

The region between Trentino and Alto Adigie is a Vias Ferratas paradise.
Most of them were built during the First World War and afterwards they were used for sports activities. We have the choice to see some of them during our backcountry skiing in the Vall de Venegia, surrounded by the Mt. Mulaz (2.920m), but we didn´t climb any of them. There are lot of easy climbing and Via Ferrata routes... maybe we must go in summer time!

When to travel to Dolomites

Dolomites snowy forest

The best time to do backcountry skiing in the Dolomites is from March untill the end of the season, since the risk of avalanches to climb the mythical peaks is usually quite high for the rest of the season. We went in February and we had three feet of snow, so we made the trips that were out of danger.
